There are six games on the playoff schedule for Friday night with three teams in essentially must win situations and three series’ getting under way with Game Ones.
The Tulsa Oilers, Missouri Mavericks and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees are all down 1-0 in their series’ and could be facing long roads back with losses tonight.
The Bees fell to the Allen Americans 4-1 last night and winning three games against the Governors’ Cup champions is a challenge no matter what but when you’re facing elimination games it is even tougher. Game Three in the series will be in Hidalgo, Texas on Sunday afternoon.
The Mavs series with Wichita is a 1-2-1-1 format so the Thunder winning on Wednesday, 2-1, does not go against form. However, a split in Missouri this weekend in Game’s Two and Three and the Thunder would be in the driver’s seat with Game Four on Tuesday night back in Wichita.
The Oilers may be the team shaking their heads the most after getting pounded in Game One by a final score of 7-3. The win for the RiverKings puts them in the lead in the series and a Game Two win could spell an end to the Oilers first post-season in more than five years.
The other three series’ all will be seeing Game One tonight as the Rapid City Rush host the Dayton Gems, the Colorado Eagles host the Quad City Mallards and the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs host the Arizona Sundogs.
After tonight, only Bloomington and Fort Wayne will be left to get their series started and they will play Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
