The Allen Americans took their brooms with them to South Texas on Sunday afternoon as they became the first team to advance to the Conference Semi Finals with their 5-2 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at the State Farm Arena in Game Three of their best-of-5 series. 

Allen was never threatened from the time Nino Musitelli scored the game’s first goal on the power play at the 5:37 mark of the first period until the horn sounded.

The Bees could have possibly gone into the first intermission with a bit of momentum as they had been outshot 18-10 in the opening frame but was trailing by just a goal as goaltender Jerad Kaufmann was playing well.  However, with just eight seconds remaining in the period, Bruce Graham, with his back to Kaufmann, slid a backhanded shot over the Bees goaltender making the score 2-0 and taking all life out of the Bees.

In the second period, Judd Blackwater stole the show scoring twice within the first 8:24 making the score 4-0 after two period.

The Bees scored twice in the third period with Dominic D’Amour and Mark Magnowski scoring the goals.

Kaufmann finished the game with 30 saves taking the loss, while Chris Whitley won his third start of the post-season making 30 saves in the game as well.

The Americans now get a bit of a brake awaiting their semi finals opponent.
