After winning three WPHL championships in the first four seasons of the franchise, Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs fans, and perhaps members of the organization, felt as if nothing much would change after the Central Hockey League merger 10 years ago.
The ensuing decade was filled with plenty of success — nine playoff appearances. However, the time has been labeled by heartbreak, controversy and disappointment.
Tonight, 1,077 miles away from Bossier City, the Mudbugs can fulfill 10 years of anticipation. Bossier-Shreveport holds a 3-2 lead over the Colorado Eagles in the Presidents' Cup Finals and can clinch the Cup at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo.
The last time the Mudbugs were on the brink of a championship, things didn't go so well. Bossier-Shreveport led the Laredo Bucks 3-1 in the 2004.
