Lovdahl Returns for Third Season with Mallards
MOLINE, Ill. (September 8, 2011) – The Quad City Mallards of the “AA” Central Hockey League today announced they have re-signed defenseman Shane Lovdahl. Per team policy, no contract terms were announced.
Lovdahl, 27, returns for a third season with the Mallards after scoring three goals and totaling 22 points in 64 games with the Flock last year.
“Shane is a returning player who will help stabilize our back end,” said Mallards head coach and general manager David Bell. “I’m excited to see his offensive numbers rise playing in our new system.”
As a rookie in 2009-10, the 6’ 0”, 214-pound Lovdahl scored three goals and led Mallards defensemen in assists (21) and points (24) while skating in 72 games.
Before turning pro, Lovhahl spent four seasons at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. The Anchorage native scored once and collected five points in 32 games as a senior in 2008-09. Lovdahl recorded eight goals and 33 points in 110 career games at UAA.
Before heading home for college, Lovdahl played three years of junior hockey with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League from 2002 to 2005 and capped off his junior career by helping the RoughRiders to the 2004-05 USHL Clark Cup title.
Lovdahl joins Obi Aduba, Jesse Biduke, Jared Brown, Justin Chwedoruk, Brad Fogal, Eric Giosa, Joel Gasper, Jason Kostadine, Martin Kubaliak, Karl Linden, Brandon Marino, David McKee, Darren McMillan, Bobby Preece, Tyler Sheldrake, John Snowden and Quinn Waller to bring the number of signings announced by the Mallards for the 2011-12 season to 18.
