Brandon Marino boards a plane this morning bound for Arizona, hoping to see sunny skies and 80-degree temperatures for the next two days.
However, the trip is hardly a 48-hour hockey getaway for the Quad City Mallards scoring leader.
Unlike the rest of Marino's teammates, who get three days away from the rink because of the Central Hockey League's All-Star Game, the third-year pro has the honor of starting in Wednesday's midseason classic.
In voting by the 14-team league's coaches, communication directors and media late last month, Marino was among the six players selected to open the game against the hosting Arizona Sundogs.
