Things are all even in the Turner Conference with Fort Wayne’s 3-2 win over Quad City last night and Evansville’s 5-2 loss to Rapid City. The Komets and Rush are both tied with 54 points.
On Saturday, the IceMen will look for revenge when they host the Rush one more time. The loss on Friday was the first home defeat in more than a month for Evansville (Dec. 31).
Bryan Gillis (the top goaltender and rookie in the month of January) saw his 10-game win streak end.
Scott Wray remained on fire for the Rush scoring a hat trick. The veteran and Captain of the team has goals in six straight games (nine goals over that stretch) and has 11 goals over his last eight games.
Friday’s win moved the Rush back into a playoff spot sitting in fourth place with 49 points, one behind third place Missouri.
The Komets return home on Saturday to face the Dayton Gems.
Dayton has points in three straight games going 2-0-1 over that stretch and the Komets have won three of their last four games.
In the season series, Fort Wayne is 6-2 against the Gems.
