Season Series: The two rivals have met seven times this season with Wichita owning wins in five of those games. The last time out, Sunday in Wichita, the Mavs ended a five-game Thunder win streak in the series. Matt Robinson and Alex Bourret each have nine points in the series versus Missouri. For the Mavs, Sebastien Thinel leads all skaters in the series with 10 points (3-7=10). The Thunder has outscored the Mavericks 14-5 in the third period.
Need to Know: The Mavs have lost three straight on home ice (0-2-1) scoring just five goals in those games. Missouri is 13-10-3 at home this season led by Ed McGrane who has 34 of his 56 points on the season on home ice.
The Low Down: The Mavs are coming of a complete game thrashing of Dayton on Friday night, 4-0. Andrew Courtney scored two times, his first goal since February 3rd. Charlie Effinger made 30 saves and was a part of his third shutout of the season (Jacub Macek ended the game for the Mavs). Wichita had a hard fought battle in Evansville but fell by a goal, 4-3, losing their grip on the top spot in the league (trail E-Ville by two points now). Both teams had long night traveling from their previous destinations for Saturday’s game.
Players to Watch: Rookie Kris Hogg had just one goal over a 25-game stretch prior to the last two games for the Mavs, games in which he has found the back of the net. The 50/50 Central/CHL Rookie of the Month for October had five points (2-3=5) with a +6 in the opening month of the season. For the Thunder, defenseman Jarred Mohr has helpers in four of his last five games.
