Amarillo center Derek Hahn and Youngstown netminder David St. Germain have been selected as the Week 10 recipients of the Oakley Central Hockey League Player and Goaltender of the Week awards. Hahn continued his torrid recent play with eight points in three contests for the Gorillas during the week, while St. Germain made 57 stops in two appearances for the SteelHounds, including a 39-save outing December 23rd to pick up his seventh win of the year.
Amarillos Hahn, currently leading the CHL with 45 points on the season, figured in on eight of the Gorillas 11 goals last week, twice recording multiple point outings. He assisted on three goals in a 5-1 home win over Corpus Christi on December 20th, then scored his 18th goal of the year and added four assists in a 5-2 win at Youngstown on December 22nd. Hahn, the 2002/2003 CHL Rookie of the Year and a starter for the Southern Conference at the 2005 CHL All-Star Game in Laredo, has registered 24 points in his last nine contests.
St. Germains first appearance of the week came in relief, making 18 stops in a 5-2 home loss to Amarillo on December 22nd. The following evening he excelled with a 39-save performance in a 7-1 home win over the Gorillas. St. Germain has been particularly effective in his last four outings, allowing just four goals while posting a .967 save percentage. The Quebec native also recorded his second CHL shutout earlier this month, making 21 stops in a 5-0 win at Fort Worth on December 13th.
