Komets trade Cescon for sniper Bennefield

The Komets continued a longtime trend of acquiring players who have played well against them Wednesday when they traded defenseman Craig Cescon to Wichita for forward Jesse Bennefield. Bennefield, 30, has scored 205 points in 180 career Central Hockey League games, including a career-high 35 goals and 75 points last year.

He adds to the Komets' scoring punch, especially on wing and in front of the net where they had been lacking. Bennefield has scored at least 30 goals three times during his seven-year professional career. He has also been a continual pest against the Komets both with Rockford and Wichita.
