IceMen Dominate Blaze Thanks to Fast Start

Box Score | Game Live

The Evansville IceMen (17-9-2) won on the road for the first time since mid-December thanks to a convincing 6-2 win over the Bloomington Blaze (10-19-2) on Friday night.  The IceMen have beaten the Blaze in three straight meetings.

Bloomington had won seven of their previous nine home games but without Jon Booras and Brodie Sheahan, containing the IceMen proved to be too much of a challenge.

The IceMen built an early lead scoring three times through the first half of the opening period.  Brian Bicek, Malcolm Gwilliam and Karl Linden scored the goals for Evansville.

A pair of Josh Beaulieu goals and score from all-star Matt Gens, all in the second period, put the game away and allowed the IceMen to cruise to the victory.

Travis Granbois scored a shorthanded goal and Jason Dale scored a power play goal providing the only offense for the Blaze.

Gwilliam and Beaulieu each recorded three points and Todd Robinson had four assists.

Bryan Gillis started his seventh straight games and improved to 4-2-1 over that stretch and 9-3-1 on the season.

The two squads will play again in Bloomington on Saturday night and then travel to Evansville to complete their three-game series on Sunday.
