Rush Continue Building With Beaudry Signing, Completion Of Trades
(Rapid City, SD) - Just over a week after signing leading scorer Rich Hansen and rookie star Derek LeBlanc, the Rapid City Rush welcome back netminder Miguel Beaudry for the 2009-10 season. Last season, Beaudry posted a 16-20-6 record with a 3.3 goals-against average (GAA) and .904 save percentage (sv %).
"It's real good, after going through growing pains I am looking forward to this organization taking the next step," said Beaudry. "We can take the experience of our first season, along with our core guys and build on taking this team to a higher level." For me, the reason I desired to return was the organization's commitment, starting with the first class ownership group and Coach Ferras showing confidence in me.
Plus, it's no secret how well we're treated here. My wife and I are very happy and there is no reason to go anywhere else."
Beaudry picked up the first win in Rush history back on October 24th , 2008 against the Corpus Christi IceRays. Beaudry also posted the first shutout in Rush history when he made 27 stops against the Colorado Eagles in the November 29th home-opener for Rapid City when Beaudry shutout the Eagles for the first time in over a year. He also tied for the most shutouts in the CHL and also tied a career high with 3. Beaudry finished the season 2nd in the CHL with 1331 saves and was 3rd in minutes played.
"Miguel was a cornerstone of our organization," said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. "Miguel is very well respected in the locker room, brings leadership both on and off the ice and we expect a huge season from him. In our expansion year, he was a workhorse for us and he was one of the key guys we wanted back."
Rush goaltender Miguel Beaudry kicked it into high gear in the month of December. After posting a 4.25 goals against average and a .853 save percentage in the month of November, Beaudry heated up in his 11 games in December. Through the 11 contests Beaudry posted a 2.35 GAA and a .929 sv %.
